Two thousand years ago, the Lord Jesus Christ established his promised church. (Matthew 16:18)  It began on the day of Pentecost, in the city of Jerusalem, in the year A.D. 33.  This was not a denomination.  Rather, it was a body of believers knit together in the fellowship of truth and love.  The kingdom of God was built upon the "foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone."  The church began in an existent state by miraculous means, but is sustained from heart to heart, city-to-city, and generation--to-generation by the planting of the seed of the kingdom, which is the New Testament.  This means that in modern times, when men believe and obey the teachings of the ancient apostles of Christ, they become the same thing as the early disciples.  Every seed brings forth fruit accordingly.  If you sow the teachings of the New Testament in the heart of a man, he will become a New Testament Christian and be added to the church of the Lord (Acts 2:38,41,47).  We continue to exist today upon this principle.  We do not claim to be starting a new church or organization, but rather claim to be an outgrowth of what was begun two thousand years ago.

The churches of Christ (Rom 16:16) continue to be very strong throughout the world today.  In this area, there are several congregations of "like precious faith" that have been meeting together for many decades.  Some have been in existence since the turn of the past century.

In 1996, the congregation at Earlytown, Alabama called Evangelist Kevin W. Presley, then working with the church in Ada, Oklahoma to come and labor among the churches in southern Alabama.  They requested that he come and permanently establish his home in this area and conduct evangelistic work.  One of the long-term goals in this work was to establish a new congregation of the Church of Christ in Dothan, AL.

In February of 1997, the churches launched a television ministry that began at WDHN-TV (ABC) in Dothan.  The weekly, half-hour program has been called "Let the Bible Speak".  In August of 1997, the program began airing on WTVY-TV (CBS) in Dothan and has enjoyed tremendous success.  This TV program continued until early 2008.

As a result of interest gleaned from the program, in November of 1998, the church at Earlytown conducted an evangelistic meeting in a rented facility in Dothan.  A great deal of interest was shown and the decision was made to branch out and begin a new congregation in this community.  We have never regretted that decision.  The congregation has labored together in love and peace to build up the cause of Christ in this area.  The majority of our members are long-time, stable Christians who have made the commitment to be with the church in Dothan and see it grow.  In 2001 we completed the building the congregation presently meets in, located at 4186 Hartford Hwy.

We fully expect the church in Dothan to continue to grow and be a strong (and in time) large congregation.  Our sole purpose is to glean souls for the kingdom of God and to glorify the Lord by establishing and maintaining a permanent congregation of his people in Dothan, AL.  We invite one and all to visit our services and study the scriptures with us at any time.  Our doors are open to those who are seeking the Lord and his way.
