Our First Wednesday Night Singing

The first Wednesday night of the month is a special time for our congregation. Our service is a good old fashion gospel singing. This service allows the members to learn new songs from our songbooks and sing some sing some of our favorites from that book too. It truly is an uplifting experience to sing with brothers and sisters in Christ the great songs of Zion -- and to do it A Cappella no less!

Here is how this service is structured.

  1. We begin with an opening prayer.
  2. The song-leading men of the congregation take turns leading a song out of the songbook. These men have been appointed to lead the songs during the service. Though they go in turn, these men are members of the congregation, so please do not feel as if you are compelled to lead a song.
  3. After all the appointed men have led a song, another appointed brother from the congregation will go up to the pulpit to read our scheduled Bible reading.
  4. When the Bible reading is concluded, yet another appointed brother prays aloud on behalf of the congregation.
  5. Each of the song-leading men again takes his turn leading a song.
  6. This time after all the appointed men have led a song, one brother will offer the gospel invitation. This is a song sung near the conclusion of the service in order to give anyone who desires to obey the Gospel Plan of Salvation as given by Christ to come forward.
  7. We end with some closing announcements and a dismissal prayer.

This is an enjoyable service. If you like to sing and make melody with your heart to the Lord, why don’t you plan on joining us on the next first Wednesday night of the month.
